As President and Founder of SEEK Medical Consulting, LLC, Sean McCarthy specializes in helping to expand sales distribution channels for medical device and life sciences companies. This allows companies to introduce new products to market into an already established channel or enable existing products to expand their footprint in the marketplace. In addition, SEEK consults with hospital administrators and physicians to expand their patient volume through a turnkey referral development program that drives revenue to the institution and practice.
Sean brings to the table more than 15 years of experience in surgical medical device sales and marketing, most recently with AtriCure, Inc. While at AtriCure, he helped to establish the US Central Area sales force as Director of Sales, then developed a national referral development initiative for the company’s ablation devices in the newly-formed Director of Strategic Marketing role, and finally held the Director of the Strategic Business Unit position where he was responsible for national sales and marketing of the minimally invasive surgery (MIS) platform. In 2000, when surgical robotics was little more than a curiosity, Sean joined Intuitive Surgical (ISRG). Over his career at ISRG, Sean grew from one of the initial sales trainees to Sales Director for the Midwest region, overseeing all field sales activities. He established the da Vinci® system and the field sales team in the Central US. Sean’s career in medical device sales began at Johnson & Johnson’s Ethicon Endo-Surgery. He holds a BA in education from Colgate University in Hamilton, NY.
